DYE AND TINT FAQS

What is the difference between tint and dye?

Tint is a more subtle look that colours hair with minimal skin stain. It's great if you like a less defined, powder-like effect. It will lasts around 3 weeks depending on the colour used.

Whereas dye is perfect for those who are after a more defined shape with a 'tattoo' like stain effect. Great if you like a fuller looking brow as dye will stain the skin as well as the hair. Skin stain lasts around 5 days and about 6 weeks on the hair, this all depends on the colour chosen though.

Can I use dye on my lashes as well?
Yes! If lash tints haven’t worked well for you in the past, dye is a great alternative. It’s stronger than tint and helps color lashes that typically don't take tint well..

Which is best for me, dye or tint?
If you don't normally fill in your brows and you're just looking for a little exra colour, and not too much definition, then tint is perfect. However, if you really like defined brows and you fill them in quite frequently then dye is a great choice.

What if I don't like it?
The best thing is that we have tint and dye remover that can strip the color to about half its shade. But keep in mind we have 19 colours to choose from, from blonde to black and everything in between. We're sure to find the right shade for you.

How long does it last?

Tint lasts around 3 weeks, depending on the color.

Dye stains both the skin and hair; the skin stain lasts about 5 days, and the hair color lasts about 6 weeks - depending on the colour.

Why is there a big difference between how long it can last?
Dye longevity can depend on the color chosen. Darker shades last longer because they have more pigment, while lighter colors like blonde or lighter browns can fade more quickly.

How can I make it last longer?
After your tint/dye service, make sure to avoid cleansing and scrubbing around the brow area as this will prematurely fade the colour. Other products can also have this effect as well, such as serums with AHA, BHA and Vitamins C etc.

I have gaps in my brows?

Having gaps in your brows, whether from overplucking or uneven growth, is completely normal. Tinting won’t cover these gaps because it doesn’t stain the skin. Dye can provide a temporary stain on the skin, but it only lasts a few days. The best approach is to talk to your brow therapist about a plan to help those areas grow back. If certain spots just won’t grow, eyebrow tattooing might be a good option to consider.

Why do you map brows?

Mapping brows gives us the best outline for making your brows as symmetrical as we can. It also helps give us a nice clean line that we can follow when using dye.

Why don't you offer Henna Brows anymore?

Henna was originally marketed as a tint alternative, but it was messy, hard to use, and didn't perform as well as we hoped. When dye became available, it outperformed henna in every way. We moved our clients to dye, and they loved the results. While henna still has its place, we prefer to offer products that we truly believe in.

What else should I know about brow dye?

Dye can look bold for the first 1-2 days before it settles into the desired color. It’s best to go a little more intense with the pigment, as it will fade to the perfect shade within a couple of days.

What can I use in between my tint/dye appointment?

We offer a popular colored brow gel for $25 that covers greys, colors the hairs, and holds them in place. It’s a salon favorite and perfect for maintaining your brows between appointments! You'll love it
